Situated west of Monkey Mia and in a world heritage site, Dirk Hartog Island has been the home of the Wardle family for 55 years and has opened its doors and sublime tranquility to those in search of a sense of inner peace and an escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

Surrounded by the nurturing forces of abundant nature at your off-grid accommodation, your wellness experience unfolds.

Expand your mind and awaken your senses, meet like-minded people and embrace the true essence of this all-inclusive retreat. Connect with mind, body and Country.

Whether you’re looking for some deserved ‘me’ time or searching for the perfect group fitness retreat, we invite everyone to experience their health and wellness journey with us.

Meet our wellness retreat leader, Lara Dwyer - Sukha Yoga

Lara has been a student of Yogic practices for 20 years and has been teaching for 12 years. She has been privileged to have studied (and continues to study with) an exceptional selection of teachers within Vedic and Eastern philosophy who have imparted invaluable teachings of Yoga & Meditation. From the inspiration and grace of her teachers & the forever humbling experience of motherhood to her two daughters, Lara weaves a practice to invite liveliness and joy, cultivate steadiness and deepen a personal spiritual connection. It is Lara’s intention to provide you with practices that are resonant and relevant during and beyond your stay at Dirk Hartog Island.

What's included?

The retreat is small and exclusive, accomodating up to 12 guests in the Eco Lodge and 6 guests in our Ocean Villa & 4 guests in Glamping tents, situated right on the beach. During the day, the white sands, hidden coves and miles of walkways through unspoilt vegetation with breathtaking views every way you turn, offer a chance for you to spend time alone in quiet reflection between the two dawn and sunset yoga and meditation classes. Alternatively, there’s snorkelling on unspoilt reefs, SUP boarding in the crystal blue waters or guided walks along sheer and imposing cliffs to the blow holes and Surf Point marine sanctuary for those looking to be a bit more active.   Overview:

Frequently asked questions

Wellness Retreat attire is all about comfort and ease. The important thing is being able to strip down in the heat and keep warm if it gets a little cold in the evening, or at the end of class in Savasana/Meditation.

  • Casual clothing that is loose and easy to move in.
  • A shawl or wrap: This allows you to stay cosy during Savasana/Meditation, and during late night chats under the stars.
  • Hair bands or hair ties: This is something we so often forget, but essential for keeping your hair out of your face when you’re doing yoga, swimming or snorkelling.
  • Comfortable shoes: Easy to wear, slip on shoes are perfect. Bring some trainers too, so you can truely embrace the outdoors.
  • Bathers, snorkels and fins: Definitely worth packing, to enjoy the incredible marine experience the Island has to offer.
  • Hat, sunscreen, sunglasses and water bottle: It will be warm and sunny during the day, so remember to keep hydrated!
  • Yoga mat and props: Yoga mats and bolsters will be provided, but if you’d prefer to bring your own or any props which make you feel comfortable, please feel free to pack them.
  • A good book and a journal: Journaling is a great way to record your thoughts and remind yourself of the incredible experience you had when you return home.

It blends simple elegance with rustic luxury and comfort, offering stunning ocean views and providing a destination in which to relax and reconnect with yourself and the natural environment.

Equipped with a bar area, open kitchen, undercover outdoor dining area, plenty of spots to lounge and private library, the Eco Lodge is a home away from home waiting to be enjoyed as the fresh ocean air fills its walls. It provides a comfortable holiday setting in an exclusive yet relaxed environment. Don’t forget to say hello to its friendly pets – there is a horse, sheep, cat, chickens and a dog.

Each room has it’s own shower and toilet with a range of products from Vasse Virgin, using only natural ingredients, including Australian extra virgin olive oil, plant extracts and essential oils to produce beautiful skincare.

The Ocean Villa is situated 75m from the Eco Lodge.  There are 3 rooms with a shared bathroom, central lounge area and an outdoor decking area overlooking the ocean.  Perfect for sharing with friends.

Yes, everyone is welcome from beginners to experienced yogis, it does not matter where you are in your practice. Once you have confirmed your participation in the retreat, we will be sending you a questionnaire which will allow our yoga teacher and Island cook to best support your needs and ensure you get the most out of your participation in the Retreat. Due to the intimacy of the group, you will get the opportunity to have one on one time with your teacher, to explore your yoga practice and take it as deep or as simple and relaxing as you need.

All the meals will be fresh, local, healthy and delicious. If you have any specific dietary requirements, please ensure you list them on the questionnaire which we will email you upon receipt of your booking.

This Retreat is designed as a five night, six day experience. We would not suggest joining late or leaving early, but if you have a request for a shorter or longer wellness retreat in the future, please email us with your request.

There’s an abundance of local wildlife, including a number of endangered species of marsupials and birds, turtles and other marine animals.
